Life! What an awesome gift life is. But what do we do with it once it is given to us? Of course we were all born babies and had to grow and mature and make our way into adulthood, but what are we doing with our lives now?
I have heard the old saying that life is God’s gift to us and what we do with it is our gift back to God! That is so true. It grieves my heart when I see people who are wasting away their lives addicted to drugs, alcohol, pornography, and other things. So many times I see people and I think about what they CAN become!
I know it is possible with God because when people turn their lives over to Jesus, ask Him to come into their hearts and be the Lord of their life, they turn the reigns over to Him and He leads them in a life that is so victorious and so fulfilling! At Hi Desert Word Center we have so many people who have conquered things in their lives and who have awesome testimonies – all because they surrendered it all to Jesus. “I am reminded of the old song, “I Surrender All!”
Life! I love the scripture verses in Deuteronomy 30:19,20 “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both you and your seed (children) may live: that you may love the Lord your God, and that you may obey His voice, and that you may cleave unto Him: for He is your life, and the length of your days…”
Notice that our decision to follow or not to follow Jesus also affects our children as well. That is a sobering thought!
I think of this scripture as a question on an exam, and God gives us the answer! The wise make the right choice!
There is nothing to be afraid of if we surrender it all to Jesus because He says in Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” The Living Bible says “to give you a future and a hope”. Wow! A future! Wow! A hope for a great future in Him!
I recall a song that was sung during the Charismatic Renewal during the 1970’s or so, “You’re nobody til you’re somebody in God.” Make something of your life! Give it to Jesus!
