The Word is Settled!

The Lord in His great wisdom left us with His book of instructions, His guidelines upon which to live our lives – the Holy Bible. Yet too many of His children are way too ignorant of it.

Sometimes Christians are in complete agreement with God’s Word and sometimes they fall far short of it being influenced instead by the times in which we live, or by false doctrines that float here and there, or just by public pressure from the world.

“O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say unto you, that every IDLE word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the Day of Judgment. For by your words you shall be justified, and by you words you shall be condemned.” Matthew 12:34-37 spoken by Jesus.

Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. It is easy to tell what a person believes by spending about 5 minutes listening to them talk. Talking with someone at church, most often does not count for this test of what a person actually believes because at church they have their best foot forward, their best face on, and the best words coming out of their mouths. However, if you meet them when they are off guard, for instance at the grocery store, what they truly believe is what they speak.

It is amazing that too many Christians don’t agree with God’s Word. They think that God is old. His Word is old. His ways are “old fashioned” – how often have I heard that one lately!

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shall be no priest to me. Hosea 4:6 also goes on to say “seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” That part of the verse has always jerked me to my senses. If I fail because I don’t have knowledge of God’s Word, then those consequences also fall on my children. Why? Because I am the one who is to be their teacher, their example in how I live my life. If I mess it up, what hope do they have?

“Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” II Timothy 2:15

“Forever, O Lord, thy Word is settled in Heaven.” Psalm 119:89

God’s Word is THE standard upon which we are to live. FOREVER is a long time for it to be settled!

“Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105

It is a lamp to my feet so I can see my daily moves, but it is a light unto my path so I can follow it into my future!

If Jesus is my Lord, it is my heart’s desire to be in complete and total agreement with Him and His Word! After all, Hebrews 13:8 tells us “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever!”

“…let God be true and every man a liar; as it is written, that you might be justified in your sayings, and might overcome when you are judged.” Romans 3:4

Always remember, that “Jesus is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords!” I Timothy 6:15b
